The incident happened on Wednesday, Nov. 8 around 2:45 p.m., when first responders were sent to the AmVets bridge on the northbound Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown, where a worker had suffered serious injuries after falling from scaffolding.

According to the Hartsdale Fire Department, which helped with the response to the incident, emergency responders from Yorktown found the worker on scaffolding elevated over the bridge. Crews then used a tower ladder to access the elevated scaffolding and reach the worker.

After a successful technical rescue utilizing rescue rope systems, the worker was removed from the scaffolding and lowered to awaiting EMS units before being taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The incident caused the northbound Taconic State Parkway in the area to be closed to traffic for several hours.
